About the Author
THOMAS J. DORSEY is cofounder and President of Dorsey, Wright & Associates, LLC, a registered investment advisory firm that specializes in research and investable products based on the Point and Figure method of technical analysis. Formerly a senior vice president and director of Options Strategies with Wheat First Securities, and a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch, Dorsey has become the industry's foremost expert in Point and Figure Charting and teaches this method worldwide. He has appeared on mainstream financial media including Fox News's Cavuto on Business and received the Distinguished Speaker Award from the Wharton School of Finance Securities Industry Association. Mr. Dorsey is also the author of three previous editions of Point and Figure Charting and Commodity Strategies: High-Profit Techniques for Investors and Traders, all published by Wiley.
SARA GIEGERICH is Corporate Counsel to Dorsey, Wright & Associates. Ms. Giegerich began her current role in September of 2011; however, she has been with Dorsey Wright for nearly a decade, having started as an intern in high school. She worked for the company throughout her education at the University of Virginia and the University of Georgia School of Law. One big advertisement.

This book is quite highly priced, especially since it is primarily an advertisement for their services. The pnf information is covered but you have to wade through all the rhetoric about how great Darcey, Wright & Assoc. and there web site are. If you want to learn about point and figure charting I am sure there are a lot that are more concise and don't inundate you with advertising there services. They do have some good investment strategies that are well worth learning but that should be separate.

Interesting way to chart mutual funds and stocks for longer term buy and sell signals. A nice complement to other technical and fundamental analysis, such as candlesticks or line charts. The author provides an interesting discussion about graphically representing increases in supply vs. demand, and companion indicators based on RS, to determine the direction of solid longer term trends. Easy reading and well written, with good examples.

Earlier versions of Tom Dorsey's book introduced me to point and figure charting, and it's been the go to technical analysis method I have used since (over 11 years). I highly recommend this book to investors looking to learn about point and figure analysis or to add an objective technical analysis approach to their toolkit.
